What began as a simple field trip to Costa Rica evolved into an inspiring story of friendship, solidarity, and intercultural exchange that connects three continents.
The students and alumni of the HSO (University of Applied Sciences for Business and Informatics) had no idea what a profound experience awaited them on their trip organized by Swiss Tropical. Led by Stéphane Dähler, they not only immersed themselves in the breathtaking nature of Costa Rica but also experienced the local culture firsthand and learned about the social responsibility that Stéphane and his family have been living in the country for years.
A special connection is formed:
Stéphane Dähler's passion for Costa Rica inspired the group. Together they explored lush rainforests, beautiful beaches, and encountered the warm hospitality of the locals. From this trip, a deep friendship developed, which led to Stéphane being invited by the HSO Alumni Association to give a lecture in Zurich.
From Costa Rica to the Ivory Coast:
In Zurich, Stéphane not only shared his experiences in Costa Rica but also reported on his passion project: the EPP Dähler, a school in Tiassalé on the Ivory Coast. This school, a long-standing social commitment of the Dähler family, urgently needs support to provide local children with education and future prospects. Stéphane decided to invest his fee for the lecture in school uniforms and materials for EPP Dähler. A small but effective contribution that gives children access to important learning materials.
Three continents, a bridge of solidarity:
This project connects Switzerland, Costa Rica, and the Ivory Coast in a special way. Switzerland, the starting point of the journey and the lecture, symbolizes the exchange of knowledge and culture. Costa Rica stands for the development of friendship and the authentic encounter with a foreign culture. The Ivory Coast with EPP Dähler forms the heart of the project - a place where help is needed and solidarity can bring about tangible changes.
Stronger together:
This story shows the power of travel and intercultural encounters that go beyond tourism and gain deeper meaning. People like Stéphane build bridges and mobilize support for those who are often overlooked.
The donation of school uniforms and materials may seem small in Switzerland and Costa Rica, but for the children in Tiassalé, it is an important step towards education and a future. In a globalized world, this project proves how friendship and solidarity can transcend national borders.
Together we are strong - and when three continents, as different as they may be, come together, small actions can achieve great things.
