Our roots – The history of the Dähler family
The history of Swiss Tropical Tourism begins with Johann Dähler, a Swiss visionary who dared to emigrate to the Ivory Coast in the 70s. There, with passion and expertise, he built an impressive pineapple empire that earned him the title “Pineapple King.”
But fate led the Dähler family further. After political unrest in West Africa, they found a new home in Costa Rica. Here they continued their agricultural tradition and today run successful plantations for pineapple, buffalo milk, moringa and cocoa.
The creation of Swiss Tropical Tourism
The desire to share the beauty of Costa Rica and the history of the Dähler family with others led to the founding of our travel agency in 2011. What began as an opportunity for Swiss people to visit the pineapple plantations of the “Pineapple King” quickly developed into a comprehensive range of travel services.
The Dähler family recognized the potential and founded Swiss Tropical Tourism. Driven by family tradition, knowledge from three continents and deep respect for the land and people, we now offer tailor-made trips through Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua.
